Information about JazzCode's "Prepare, Produce, Present" workshop
Sept 2008: JazzCode's Prepare Produce Present workshop offered by London Business School as part of their client executive education programme.

We must communicate better
For most companies, the ability to convey ideas is critical for success. Every day we are confronted with ideas and logic, but too often, the best ideas fail because of unfinished thinking, highly complex subject matters and poor communication skills.

The Prepeare, Produce, Present workshop (click here for Norwegian) uses techniques from consulting, advertising, film making and jazz to help consultants, analysts, engineers and sales and marketing people improve how they structure and convey meaning. The method, developed by JazzCode, helps teams standardize how they develop and structure ideas together.
This is not a typical "how to make better powerpoints", but rather, "how teams develop shorter, better and more interesting documents" by focusing on a shared story structure and a sound, logical pyramid of arguments to support the story structure. The skills apply equally well with presentations, reports and proposals.
This was the most useful training I have attended. I am really fascinated of the content, the way of being trained and the expertise of the trainer.

The workshop is structured into three modules.
Day 1: Prepare—how to prepare the production and presentation—ensures stringent logic and solid storyline. This section is divided into three: strategy, structure and story. Most of this material is based on the Pyramid Principle (summarized), developed by Barbara Minto for McKinsey & Co. The participants are taken through a set of exercises and cases to establish understanding and real learning.
Day 2: Produce and Present. These two modules teach a) how to optimize the production process and b) how to blow people away when you present. The first module can be expanded to include super-user skills for powerpoint (multiple templates, embedded objects, enhance formatting etc.) whereas the third module, Present, can also be enhanced to teach rehearsal techniques as well as effective techniques to enhance effectiveness during presentations.

The material is developed by Carl Stormer (bio), using principles from consulting, interactive design, story boarding, and performing arts where rehearsal, warm-up and stage presence are critical successfactors.
